Após o Descobrimento do Brasil, nossa terra ficou abandonada pois a verdadeira intenção das naus que aqui chegaram era descobrir um novo caminho pra as Índias. Devido ao abandono franceses e ingleses exploravam o Pau-Brasil livremente, o que fez com que o rei de Portugal mandasse expedições para guardar a costa brasileira. Como não obteve sucesso coma guarda ele mandou uma expedição colonizadora. E aí então, no século XVI, mais exatamente em 1502 que começa a história do Guarujá, até então conhecida como Ilha de Santo Amaro.

   Em 22 de janeiro de 1502, sob o comando de André Gonçalves e Américo Vespúcio, uma armada ancorou na costa ocidental da Ilha de Guaibê (Santo Amaro) próxima à Praia de Santa Cruz dos Navegantes.
A Ilha de Santo Amaro (até então conhecida como Guaíbe ou Guaibê) foi doada pelo Rei D. João III em 1534 a Pero Lopes de Souza para que este providenciasse a colonização.

   TURISMO

   O turismo no Guarujá decorre das belezas naturais, das praias, ilhas, locais para lazer e passeios, mar e sol. Por tudo isso, Guarujá tem atraído um número cada vez mais crescente de turistas.
   Como se pretendesse guardar pra si toda a beleza contida na ilha, o oceano abraçou, com suas águas mornas e cristalinas, esse paraíso de 138 km2. Nas praias de areias brancas e na vegetação da região, a luz reflete todas as cores e maravilhas naturais desse sonho que muitos chamam de "Pérola do Atlântico".
   Para chegar a esse lugar de encantos não é preciso muito esforço pois ele dista apenas 86 km da cidade de São Paulo. O acesso se dá por vias com completa infra-estrutura e segurança, como os complexos viários Anchieta-Imigrantes e Cubatão-Guarujá.

   Os diferentes tons de verde presentes nas matas e nas águas do Atlântico fundem-se nas praias do Guarujá, que, ao mesmo tempo, dividem dois mundos de intensa beleza e exuberância. Acima da superfície, a mais de 30 pontos turísticos, entre praias e ilhas, aguardam os visitantes. Sob o manto verde do mar, centenas de espécies marinhas compõem o caleidoscópio de cores e formas apreciados pelos mergulhadores em vários pontos da ilha. A beleza por eles presenciada só se compara à dos tons frutacores dos animais e plantas encontrados nos caminhos de Mata Atlântica da região.

   No dia a dia desse paraíso, a prática de esportes é uma atividade capaz de satisfazer a todos os gostos e preferências. São diversas opções à disposição do visitante, que sente-se envolvido por um clima saudável 24 horas por dia. As águas cristalinas são um convite à prática dos esportes náuticos. Para os amantes do surf e windsurf, praias fantásticas estão à espera e, para os que preferem a tecnologia, o jet-ski também tem espaço garantido. Nas areias, futebol e tênis de praia fazem a cabeça dos turistas. Quem deseja algo mais sofisticado, uma partida de golfe faz com que os problemas sejam esquecidos.

   After the Discovery of Brazil, our land was abandoned therefore the true intention of the vessels that had arrived here were to discover a new way pra India. Had to the abandonment French and English they explored Wood-Brazil freely, what it made with that the king of Portugal ordered expeditions to keep the Brazilian coast. E there then, in century XVI, more accurately in 1502 that the history of the Guarujá starts, until then known as Island of Amaro Saint.

   In 22 of January of 1502, under the command of Andres Gonçalves and Américo Vespúcio, an armed anchored in the coast occidental person of the Island of Guaibê (Amaro Saint) next to the Beach to Santa Cruz of the Navigators.

They are diverse options to the disposal of the visitor, who feels for a healthful climate 24 hours per day involved. The crystalline waters are an invitation to the practical one of the nautical sports. For loving of surf and windsurf, fantastic beaches are to the wait and, for that they prefer the technology, the jet-ski also has guaranteed space.
